Terms of Use
You must be at least 18 years of age or older to register.
Please take a few moments to review the following information. We reserve the right to modify the terms herein at any time, with or without notice.
All guidelines and policies apply to all forums, threads, posts, comments, private messages, profiles, gallery photos, avatars and signatures. Ignorance of the rules is never acceptable.
If you are questioning yourself on whether or not your actions are in violation of the site rules then, you should refrain from doing that action and ask an Admin or Moderator before proceeding.
Keep in mind that Moderators/Administrators have final say about what happens on this site and their decisions are final.
Moderators and Administration
Moderators and Administrators of these sites monitor your compliance with the rules of the site and dispense disciplinary action at their discretion. Any question regarding disciplinary action must be sent through PM's and/or e-mail correspondence and should not be publicly posted. If you have concerns regarding an incident, please feel free to discuss the matter with Moderators/Administrators via an e-mail or PM. Do not create a new topic simply for the purposes of questioning a moderator's decision.
Any posts containing inappropriate content will either be edited or removed from the forums and posting such words/phrases/content after being warned can result in being suspended from the Airyness Community for a given amount of time defined by the infraction and the Moderators. If you are consistent about posting this sort of content after you have been warned you will be permanently suspended from the site.
Anyone impersonating or acting like they are an administrator or moderator is not allowed and can result in disciplinary action. If a user finds a thread or post that is inappropriate please report the thread or post and let the administration and moderating staff handle the situation.
Moderators and Administrators are held to an even higher standard for following the rules than regular users. If you have an issue with actions taken or displayed by a Moderator please report it to an Administrator. If you have an issue with an Administrator please report it to the administrator.
Private Groups
Also, some groups may be assigned their own private sections. Some groups may be subject to restricted access based on member age, staff position or for various other reasons. We reserve the right to revoke access with or without notice at our discretion.
If you find that your access is revoked, please send a private message or email to the administrator to request the reason if you did not receive one. In addition, different rules may apply to private groups. Please make sure that you have read and understand the rules for using those areas.
In addition, as per the user agreement, please be sure to accurately represent your age in your profile. If you would like to include ages for a character that you plan to write, you may do so in the field that is provided specifically for character information. Presenting misleading information may delay the group approval process.
Member Accounts
As stated in the User Agreement, it is important that you do not share your account password for your protection and for validity reasons.
We also HIGHLY recommend you use a complex and unique password for your account, to prevent account theft.
If your account should become compromised as a result of your failure to follow this advice, please be aware that the Airyness Community will not accept responsibility for any losses such as modification or deletion of your posts, drafts, private messages, comments, etc.
Modifications/deletions of posts by members can be verified through logs. Also, Airyness Community reserves the right to take disciplinary action in the event that you refuse or choose not to comply.
Also see Multiple Accounts.
Personal Information
For your safety and privacy; please do not post personal information such as, but not limited to; your full name, home or business address, phone numbers, etc. Your age is visible in your profile and your birth date as well as the age you’ll be turning is shown on the calendar, but not the year. (Guests are unable to see the calendar/profiles).
Pictures of yourself, home, school, and work place are also not allowed in posts or the gallery.
We also recommend that you hide the email address that you have listed in your profile. This can be done by going to your Account Settings page and checking the box to “hide email address from the public.”
You understand that Airyness Community is not responsible for personal injury, property damage, receipt of spam, identity theft, or any other consequence as a result of members disregarding this policy.
Data Back Ups
Airyness.com will make every effort to ensure that data is preserved by backing up the database on a daily basis. However, you are encouraged to keep back up copies of your work in the event that our forum database is compromised and cannot be restored. This applies to any creative writing, illustrations, ideas, gallery photos, private messages, post drafts or anything else that you deem important. Disregard this warning at your own risk.
Multiple Accounts
Members are only allowed one username per person in a household and are strongly discouraged from sharing accounts with other family members and / or friends. In terms of guideline violations, Airyness Community moderators/administrators may track multiple shared accounts from single or multiple computers as one account. If a guideline violation is severe enough, it may become necessary to ban/delete one or all of the usernames on the same computer, depending on the severity. You are responsible for anyone and everyone who uses your account and/or accesses other accounts from your computer.
The actions of one person could easily directly impact all known shared message board accounts.
NOTE: This does not apply to Admins/Moderators, as we sometimes need multiple accounts to test technical issues that come up from various user levels and to do that properly it requires us to create "test" accounts.
Impersonation of Other Users
Creating accounts on the site with similar names of existing users in order to cause chaos or misconceptions towards that user is not allowed and it can lead to permanent suspension from the site.
Anyone impersonating or acting like they are an administrator or moderator is not allowed and can result in disciplinary action. In addition, "back-seat modding" is not allowed.
If a user finds a thread or post that is inappropriate please report the thread or post and let the administration and moderating staff handle the situation.
Anyone found to be impersonating Airyness Community staff will be banned immediately and permanently.
Posting
Please post in the appropriate forum. Don't be upset if we move your post to a more appropriate forum. In the event you find your post "missing", please attempt to locate it in what might be a more appropriate forum by using the Search feature.
Each forum has a name and a brief description with them. This makes information easier for people to find if they have a similar question or are interested in the same things.
We reserve the right to move, merge, remove, or close any post for any violations or reasons we deem necessary. (Disciplinary action will be taken if necessary depending on the severity). This also applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, comments, profiles, avatars and signatures.
Multiple Posting/Double Posting
Multiple Posting is copying posts/threads several times throughout the forum or consecutive (one right after another) replies to a thread. One thread per new subject / one reply needed (use the Modify feature if you’ve already replied and need to add something).
Multiple postings will be removed, moved, or merged as needed.
English Only
The Airyness Community does not provide support for any other language. The moderators/administrators and other users must be able to read and comprehend your posts. To ensure this, we ask that everyone do their best to post in English.
Favoritism Posts/Polls
This includes posts that indicate who's the best poster, writer, poet, etc. These often lead to confrontations when a person expresses a negative opinion about another person. This also applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, comments, profiles, avatars and signatures.
Flaming
Any posts/topics that are hateful or mean in nature will be removed immediately. We do not tolerate attacks based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or political affiliation. Personal threats and harassment will not be tolerated. This includes posting pictures representing an attack; debate opinions, not the people behind them. This also applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, comments, profiles, avatars and signatures.
Irritating Post Styles
This refers to posting styles which make it hard to read and/or comprehend what a user is attempting to state on their post(s). Moderators and other users must be able to read and understand what you are posting. Use of all caps (indicates yelling), caps/lowercase variances or ‘leet’ speak (I wAnT A wRiTiNg p4rTn3R), poor color choices for their text vs. forums background colors (such as white text on a yellow background), excessive punctuation (no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) or letter repetition in a word (Yaaaaaaaaay!) are both irritating and sometimes hard to read. These types of posts will be removed from the forums/comments or edited by a mod.
Name Changes
Display Names may be changed at any time via user profiles without permission as long as it is within the guidelines set forth in here. Usernames may be changed with approval; please contact the administrator. Limit one username change per year, per member.
Off-Topic/Nonsense Posts
If your post/thread doesn't make sense or is filled with gibberish, these posts will be removed. While we expect that some topics will stray a bit, if it completely hijacks the thread and/or disrupts the flow, those posts will either be removed or split into its own thread.
Personal Issues
Discussions of a personal nature should also be kept to a minimum throughout the forums. Airyness Community understands the need to vent from time to time; writing is a great way to release negative feelings. However, we ask that you confine such writing to the Solo or Poetry areas and avoid bringing real life drama into the Collaborative stories.
By using the Airyness Community, you understand that the moderators/administrators are not referees for personal/relationship disputes. In order to effectively run the community, they must maintain objectivity, even when those that we consider friends are involved in a personal argument or have disregarded the rules. Members must understand that the action taken by moderators or administrators to enforce the rules does not mean that we do not feel compassion to those that are suffering and is not meant to be a personal attack in any way.
Scamming
Creating posts in which a user attempts to take advantage of any other is not allowed.
A scam is the act of acquiring item(s) or any other possession from another member through misinformation, confusion, or fraud. Posts which include advertised writing contests or groups that require entry/participation based on items given to the owner of the event or group are not allowed.
Signature Lengths
Users should be considerate of other users on the forums. Excessive signatures cause the flow of the threads to be disrupted and make pages load slower for some users. Signature lengths over 10 text lines will be removed from user's profiles.
This also applies to graphics that are larger than 250 x 250 pixels in length and width size. It doesn't matter how big the font size is as long as the total dimensions taken up by the signature text & graphic does not exceed 500 x 200 in pixel length and width.
Spamming
"Spam" refers to posting identical and/or irrelevant messages to one thread or many different threads that have nothing to do with the intended subject, or posts that disrupt a thread or fill the message board with clutter. Mass private messaging people you don't know or who haven't invited you to PM them; posting for the sole purpose of boosting your post count, threads with the sole purpose of posting "what I did today..." (this is a forum, not a blog or chat room), excessive bumping of threads, one or two letter replies (i.e. ok, LOL, Yes, agreed, nods), and excessive use of smilies as a response are all considered "spam".
Trolling
Intentionally posting false arguments, flames or personal attacks for no other purpose than to incite a negative reaction, annoy others or disrupt a discussion is also prohibited. These perpetrators are known as "trolls".
Arcade
In order to play in our arcade you must have a total of five posts accumulated. Thereafter, you will need to post one time on any day that you would like to play. Cheating the system will not be tolerated. Any member that is found to be cheating in order to obtain higher scores or win tournaments will have their account deleted and IP banned immediately without notice.
Gallery
Images must be approved before they will show up anywhere in our gallery. They must also be suitable for a PG13 audience. Do not upload images that contain nudity or foul language. Any images that are found to be inappropriate will be removed without notice and will result in disciplinary action.*
Links
As a member, you are able to share useful links with the rest of the community and may be subject to approval. Links that lead to pornographic or otherwise inappropriate websites will be removed immediately followed by disciplinary action.*
* Please try to upload images/post links in their proper category. If one does not exist, please send a message to the gallery administrators and one of us will create it for you if necessary. When in doubt, select the Miscellaneous category.
Karma
The Airyness Community has a karma system enabled. Some members, depending on post group, may add or take away from the karma of other users. However, karma is automatically increased every time any user adds a post in any of the forums.
If you have any questions or need clarification on any of these terms, please contact the administrator via private message.
